The personal challenges records managers face

The IRMS Ireland Group held their Spring meeting in the Irish Architectural Archive, Dublin on Friday, 11 April. With over 40 in attendance, the day was all about personal and corporate effectiveness in the area of records management. We would like to thank our sponsors Oasis Records Management for making this possible.

Karen Maher, SHRC Ltd looked at how to improve personal effectiveness. Fearghal Kearney, Bizquip outlined the essentials and must-haves for any successful records management implementation. His concise guide to records management was circulated to those who attended the meeting. Louise Donovan, Acenden Mortgage Servicing Solutions described how she managed a large scale migration of electronic records. Karl Kohler of Wincanton Records Management focused on emerging changes in the business due to legislation like the Consumer Protection Code, which have helped to bring records management to the fore in the corporate agenda. Tom Gilsenan of Informa, outlined factors that must be considered when undertaking a digitization project for legacy records. Participants were excited by a presentation from Nick Keegan of Green Letterbox, who have created a digital post box for every postal address in Ireland that will allow users to receive their official post in digital format, delivered to their smart phone, iPad or desktop.
