Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda

“We have worked with Digiscan or Informa as they are now known for the past six years and we have never once had a problem. They collect and deliver on time every time regardless of the volumes which is key for us”

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda has one of the busiest Accident & Emergency departments in Ireland with over 12000 visits annually. They, like many hospitals in Ireland, had serious storage issues resulting in difficulty holding the required period of A&E charts on-site.

As a result A&E charts as recent as 3 to 4 months old had to be sent off site which resulted in a high number of recalls and delays in getting these files back in the first place.

Files needed to be accessible within minutes & hours, not days, so sending off site un-scanned was not an option. Doctors and nursing staff would require immediate access to patients with revisits or even notes if they had attended the A&E department in the past

Solution:
Informa now collect A&E charts monthly only leaving one month on-site with the remainder all scanned onto their internal webserver retrieval system with access to appointed staff. All charts are now available for viewing by staff within seconds

Once files are scanned the originals are bar coded and sent into long term storage. The scanned record holds the box bar code information as part of the indexing should an original ever needed to be recalled for legal reasons A file request service is provided for the duration of the scanning work by Informa should files need to be recalled by e-mail or fax.
